I am with you there, Dusty. I have a set of 3 of the full size log dogs, which look like staples on steroids, that are used to "dog down" logs when cutting log cabin joinery. Have I used them for that? No, but I did use them once a few years back when I decided I would make a 10 foot long 6 x8 out of a hemlock log using hand tools. Got it done, (cheated a bit by using a chainsaw here and there) but I learned in the process why the old timers liked clear wood when shaping with ax and adz! Still, I am going to hang on to them because, well, you just never know when they might come in handy. :>)dusty wrote: I still have them because I discard very little.
