I had delivered two of the three of this build to local family mid-July. The remaining one I mail out to DE about a week ago.
The painting was a disaster. I was using a new type of paint and despite having "dried" for a week the parts stuck together to the paint I had to brake them apart. Some pieces required sanding and total repainting. This was the simple base coat of white I used.
The blue paint was just as bad even with me knowing not to put the parts anywhere near each other they managed to stick to the table they were laying on after 10 days of "drying". I was able to do a touch up on those parts.
After more drying I put the stencil on to paint the white stars......... the stencil glue pulled up paint, now I've done this before but never with so many issues.......... more touching up to fix that. At least the red strips were a nicer experience. Still not as nice as other times.
So I'm not sure how I will change this next time but I do know I will not be using the same paint I did this time. What did I use? Krylon Super MAXX. Perhaps the weather was to blame? Faulty job by me? For now I'm leaning towards the paint. After a couple of years if it holds up to the weather then maybe I'll be more forgiving.
I also think the stencils are wrecked so like I said this was not a pretty project. I'll see if I can clean them up but.....
