I don't know! What do I have if I install the Double Tilt Kit on my Mark V Model 520?

What do I have if I install the PowerPro Kit on my Mark V Model 520?

or Maybe all we have is some confusion brought about by the less than conventional numbering system that has been applied to the Shopsmith over the years.

In the first case you have a MK V with 7 functions. Except that with the MK V you already have over table routing (function 6) so now you gain under the table shaping/routing. But, speed is still the problem in many cases so function 6 is not advertised as a function of the MK V.

In the second case you have a MK V with a Power Pro head stock. You actually gain a very adequate over head router because of the Power Pro's 10K RPM. You still only have 6 functions.

As far as numbering, what is less conventional on their part. Remember SS has gone through at least 4 owners over the years. The MK VII and the MK 7 have the same double tilt and the same functions. That follows their numbering convention. How would you tell SS to number the MK 7 to differentiate it from the older MK VII. I think they did the only thing they could. I am sure they would have loved to call the new Power Pro a MK VII but it was not an option. Even more confusion.

It is a matter of us that know using the correct terminology and educating those that don't.

UPDATE I purchased the 510 and band saw today. Band saw needs new rubber for the wheels. 510 has the large table but no other tubes or fence for the table. No wheels either and some rust on frame
The head was sent shop smith and they put the power pro update in it last year. The owner took the motor and gears etc out of it before sending it to SS. I got it all for $1100.00 So I am happy and thank each of you for your input.

No fence?

FWIW it appears to be a mark V with a power pro upgrade and no fence. Is there an aux table?

Yes the power pro upgrade makes it a decent deal!

I am wondering if it has the tailstock and other things like sanding disk . . .

POWER PRO UPDATE

Earlier I posted I purchased a 510 with a power pro update done bythe SS company. I found out it was not done by SS but appears to operate ok. Now I have a head stock with 1 1/8 motor and an extra 1 1/8 motor for back up. I still believe it was a good deal.
Thanks for all of your input in here!!

If it IS a power pro, it is a 1 3/4 hp motor that can be 2 hp with 230v.
