The 505 is the 510 without the floating tables and telescoping legs, they both (and the 520) have the groovy aluminum main table with keyed (sic) miter slots. The 500 has a smaller, cast iron main table and straight-sided miter slots, smaller carriage, etc.

The 500 has a lever to raise/lower the table, 505 on have a wheel.

Ah, so the 505 and the 520 table raising is the same mechanism, or just the same "design"?

Thanks!

Not much 'detail', but it shows the table difference.

Yes, I believe they all use the same carriage.

Yes the carriages are all identical for the 505,510,520,Mark 7 models. They all use the same 'Main' table. Although there was the early 510 table variation.

The 'table raising mechanism' is the same for all Mark V and Mark 5, but, the Mark 5 and Mark V 500 dimensions differ from the later models. This is due to the mounting posts being more widely separated on the later models.

However the later models use a hand wheel rather than a lever to raise/lower the table.

The tilt mechanism is different on those later models.

The Mark VII is a variation that preceded the later designs but is unique in and of itself.

Sorry to offer a different opinion here, but both my Mark V 500's have small smooth aluminum main tables. My extension tables are grooved aluminum surfaces. The only cast iron table of which I am aware is the bandsaw and joiner/planer. I will have to go check my jigsaw. :D

I think 'cast iron' was a misspeak.(not intentional)
