I was repositioning the tool rest the other day and one of the plastic handles broke off. Wasn't applying much pressure so I assume it was defective. I can still use the rest, but am having to use a pair of pliers to loosen and tighten the rest into position. I have contacted ShopSmith twice by email but no response. Does anyone know if there is a replacement part for the handle and also if there are suggestions on getting more functional rest. This one seems pretty limited.

Does the 5/32" Allen wrench not fit in the set screw?

You should be able to loosen/tighten the screw with an Alan key.

Those handles are and upgrade. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... pgrade.htm

MKC tools also has replacement handles that are made of metal, and at a better price. http://mkctools.com/mkvtoolresthandles.htm

Shopsmith also sells the Universal Tool Rest, which is more versatile. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cata ... olrest.htm
