Broken band saw blades

I have also broken blades cutting oak, cherry, and pecan limbs into chunks for cooking in my BBQ.

I decided to rip a big hunk of eucalyptus, it closed on the blade, stalled the machine and that electric smell was already present by the time I killed the power. Eventually I freed the blade. It wasn't broken, but had this Esher-esque warp that made the whole SS dance across the floor.

Another time I was looking for a quick easy way to strip the windings from an old electric motor. The bandsaw ain't it.

Reminds me of someone I knew that cut himself bad enough for a hospital stay. He attempted to cut a softball in half holding it with his hands. I don't know why.

Well, the band saw is it IF you do it right. The same with wood or anything else, you have to do it right. When I was working for the Air Force as a civilian overhauling aircraft generators the generator tear down shop used a band saw to cut and then remove the winding's from certain rotors. However the rotor was clamped to a sled that ran in the miter track. It worked perfectly every time.
