If you do turnings you may really like having the weight of the base secure the platform so that it does not walk across the floor or becomes misaligned.
Workbench retractable casters can make it very easy to move when the base is loaded with other tools and accessories.

You can make brackets to mount the MkV castors on vertical legs. I would mount them out board of the legs or cabinet sides.

A simple stand possibility would be a bottom frame with lockable casters and two box ends on top, at the height needed for you, to hold the Headrest and Base/Arm ends. Keep the bench tubes for upper frame support. You can use small "L" brackets to attach the Base and Headrest to the stand ends. This would keep all parts of the Shopsmith original for later restoration. The box ends can have holes drilled into them to match the spots where the extension table posts go. Another option would be to just use two box ends with lockable casters to replace the bench legs without a base frame. My thought was having the two boxes attached at the bottom would be more stable but it could function without it just like the Shopsmith legs do.
