The nature of the SSUG website problem has changed but I see this as evidence the site is still there.

At about 12:30 today:
SSUG.org s currently experiencing technical difficulties.

Our hosting provider and the staff are working on the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience, We will have the site back up as soon as possible, But due to the fact that there was significant data loss the down time could be extended.

Yup, there is activity. Dylan must be working on this 24/7. Every time I look I can see signs of progress.

I guess my question is what is the point? Why have multiple Shopsmith forums? Now that Shopsmith has opened this forum and is footing the bill why even mess with any of the others?

Frankly I think this format is far superior to either the Yahoo (which I particularily hate) and the SSUG.org format.

Incidentally I hope all you know that the Yahoo site loads a "web beacon" into your computer to monitior everything you look at. They claim that enables them to bring you better product advertising, more suited to your tastes. (just a minute I have to cough up a bad taste in my mouth) Check out their security policy (web beacons) , there is a way to opt out but that is done by placing a cookie on your machine that must be put there everytime you clear your cookies. Thanks but no thanks!!!!!

I'm sorry Ed but I don't see SSUG as any different than Lumberjocks and SMC and onlineshopclasses and finewoodworking and the list goes on and on. They are all good places to go for ideas and to gather knowledge relative to woodworking and (if one so desires) post ones own thoughts.

They each have good points and bad points.

Is this the only woodworking site you visit? (Rhetorical Question - No Response Expected)

And I'm glad they are back online. I hope the new look will help generate more interest and posts there.

Site has a better look except for the graphics. They no longer show up for me. Don't suggest upgrading this and that. I already have all the latest and greatest. I do a lot of graphics and photo work.

If one doesn't have an account SSUG.ORG how do you register for an account? I can find no links that will allow me to register. The link to "contact us" brings up an essentially blank page with no means of sending a message...
