Thank you Russ for your help. I appreciate the wonderful explanation. I have the newer style and the green screw had a washer on it, but a corner was sheared from my pulling effort. I'll replace it with a new washer after I inspect the idler assembly tomorrow. I wasn't able to work on it today. Thank you again for your help.

I have it apart and will replace the belts, drive sleeve bearings and quill bearings while I have it apart. All look to be original; 29 years old, so it's time for replacement even though the belts look fine. I'll keep those belts for spares. I'll post some pictures later.
