Hi,
Mine arrived today all in a box just larger then a 5 gallon bucket. Bolted it together and hooked up the hoses and started having fun. The plastic is not clear but you can see the stuff swirling around and it is almost addictive watching it!
Think I must have played with it for at least a half hour and vacuumed up all sort of stuff... even the driveway. When I was done I had filled about half the bucket, really expected to see a cup or so in the shopvac tank... not the case at all, in fact I'm not sure I could have gotten a tablespoon.
I've had it hooked up to my old shopvac for playing around with and I didn't get to any drywall dust testing yet. I also want to see how it does when hooked up to a sander... I've got some steps to sand this summer, inside no less and I'd like to fire up one of the heavy duty ones to start with.
It looks like it would be a better deal to get the basic kit and save the postage. Still it saved me a trip to pick up the parts I would have needed, hose, buckets, nuts and bolts... anyway what done is done.
I'd like to get some more time with it before I get to carried away with praising it but I will say I'm happy with my first impressions. I also noticed they kept the prices the same and it is now a Father's Day Sale. If you still can't figure what else to get yourself I'd say this might be a solution for you.

I figured I would update this thread to let everyone know if I had buyers remorse. Well I do not, in fact I bought one for my fathers shop. I have emptied the 5 gallon bucket 23 times over the last few months. I have not cleaned the filter and have not clean out the vacuum. I wont lie I do have a few things in the vac. It is a few pieces of Styrofoam that are about the size of half dollars and 2 Oak Leaves. I banged on the filter and no dust. So I would have to say it working exactly as advertised.
Some of the things that I have vacuumed up are dog hair, sand, mdf dust, planner shavings, bondo dust while attached to orbital sander, drywall dust while attached to sander, Styrofoam and packing peanuts, and the best surprise was water. Yes water. I don't recommend doing it with dust in the bucket but I sucked up 5 gallons of soapy hot water and there wasnt a drop on the vacuum. I unhooked the lid and tossed the water in the yard, this was a lot easier than doing it from vacuum because the lid wasn't dripping water all over the place.
The only thing that I wish was better on this unit is the way to move it around. I mounted it just like the photos show on there website (bucket hanging off the side) Once the bucket filled about half way it would drag across the ground and made it very tipsy.
I made a plate form that I bolted the bucket and vacuum to and put casters underneath. Now it is just tipsy. I guess I could make the foot print bigger to get more stability but I ended up just buying a longer hose. This has helped out but it still tips if you try and pull on it to move it.
My wife no longer uses the house vacuum. She gets tired of pulling dog hair out of the filters so she can vacuum. Its funny to watch her with a shop vac but she loves it.
I just wanted to let everyone know how it was working after a few months. I still recommend it to anyone who cannot house a full size cyclone.

Maybe you could mount a caster under the bucket platform to help with the tipping issue?

reible wrote:Hi,
Placed my order last week for the $99 version but I did notice that they claimed the "sale" ended at the end of May on the web pages.
Still waiting to see what the charges are going to be. Got a UPS number tonight so I should be finding out soon. The $99 version had a fix rate shipping note which did not appear when I checked out... they did say a second invoice would be forth coming with shipping charges if they apply.
Been holding back on some more drywall sanding in hopes of testing the unit out on that.
Really glad this got called to my attention, well if they honor the prices anyway.

I ordered one of the $99 specials this weekend, and got the same e-mail confirming purchase, but no shipping charges. The web site had a flat rate of $14.00 for shipping.
So, bottom line is the sale is still on here at the end of August!
Cyclone, 20$ Hardware, Not having to bang the filter=Priceless

Hi,
I discovered the collet to my trim router was missing when I went to use it.

It must have dropped/rolled/disappeared on me when I last used it. I searched everywhere for it the couple of hours:mad: , and then had the idea that just maybe I vaccummed it up. I took off the cover of my Craftsman's vac to sift thru the wood debris, and spent the next hour searching/siffting, cleaning the filter, and getting myself dirty!
With your recommendation, I promptly ordered one Dust Deputy! Still have not found my router collet, but have ordered two replacements for the future. My game plan is to go searching for something else, and I will then find the missing collet!:o
