Got this chuck a couple of weeks ago and it is great. I've gotten two bowls and currently working on a pair of black walnut cups with it. Just get the 5/8th plain adopter for it.

I also have the supernova 2 chuck, and got it from woodcraft (just be aware that the sale on it ends Oct 31st) and i really like it, you will need the adapter, and can get it from woodcraft, but i would recomind ordering it online, search for a coupon that gives you free shipping, cause when i ordered it, i didnt have to pay tax on the purchase or shipping, so it was much less then it would have been even in the store.
Now the down side to the supernova or any of the nova chucks is, you only will get 1 set of jaws standard with it, that being said, nova has more jaws avaliable then just about any other brand, but you do have to pay for them

tsaguy, you started this thread and haven't heard from you since. Did you ever get a chuck? If so, what did you end up with? Or, do you still have questions?

Well I didn't get a chuck yet. Actually, I havent lurked here awhile, somewhat disenchanted by a reply of a member here on one of my other posts. But no worries, maybe he just had a bug up his rear that day.
I havn't purhcased a chuck yet, I've been busy turning pens and learning how to sharpen my lathe tools. And insulating my garage against the Michigan weather.
Reading the above post about Wood Crafts' sale, I'll be doing some research in a few minutes.
Does anyone know if there a an adpater made to use over-the-counter saw blades with my SS? and I can't find my serial number to my SS... where is it normally located? There is no data plate on the headstock.

There are a couple of old grouches here that you just have to take with a grain of salt. I will admit to being one at times, myself. As for chucks, IMHO, you can't go wrong with the chucks made by Technatool.
The SN for your MKV should be on a decal just to the left of the speed dial on the headstock. If that is missing you are out of luck. For saw arbors check

Whew, I think I might have dodged a bullet on this one. I went back through all of your recent posts to see if I might be "one of the old grouches"
(using George's words) who said something disenchanting. I don't think it was me
this time but I know I am one of the OLD GROUCHES on this forum.
Whatever gets said here, I certainly hope that you don't ever take it too seriously. Please don't let it drive you away. We all have differing opinions from time to time. Some of us are just not too good at expressing those without insulting or disillusioning others.
Whenever I am guilty, I hope that you will blast me right back but please don't go into seclusion. This forum is built upon the skills and opinions of others. This is what makes it tick.

I hope that you do knot limit your time on these forums due to what one member has said. It has been my experience that there are some few members here that express themselves rather strongly. Rather then back down from them, either ignore them or, as dusty said, "blast right back". Most of the time, they mean no harm, it is just their way...
We each have opinions, and if you express yours, you must be prepared to tolerate others. You do knot have to agree and you do knot have to argue the point (although doing so is perfectly acceptable), you just have to be tolerant. Looking forward to your inputs!:)

Ok, Ibought a Teknatool Super Nova from Wood Craft. After carefully cleaning it, inspecting its use, and reading through the instructions, I walked it to the lathe to find out my adpter I purchased a few weeks ago in faith would not ift. Now I am waiting for the right adapter to be shipped my way! Thanks for your helps, and you guys really crack me up, going through your posts to see if you offended me... heheh
