ok given it more thought and I did a down and dirty proto type:
it's quick and easy
folds and store
will test it out and then make a little better.

Looks good now two things to think about.
One everytime you make a depth of cut adjustment you must adjust your out feed table.
Two hard to make it work in bevel mode.

I believe that is why Dusty's and Nick's table is the answer. My only problem is the actual hardware. What Nick or Dusty or even Shopsmith need to do is come up with a hardware package that will allow any SS user to adapt a flat piece of stock to their design.

Dusty if you really want a Power Pro why not come up with a hardware kit and plans for making you Outfeed table. If you price it right you will probably sell a ton of them and if your profit margin is right you should be able to pay for the PP in no time. :D

I like Farley's parts kit! Two conduit/pipe clamps and stuff already laying around the shop! It is easily 'upgraded with a thicker top with miter gauge bar slots and fence extension. Keep in mind he made a prototype(purty goodun[$]) merely to 'try it out'. I think he can undercut Dusty's 'price'!

In this day and age if one "prices it right" he will either end up holding and inventory OR he will sell out and lose money on every sale.

To make my point - Tell me up front how much you would be willing to pay for a duplicate of my original self adjusting outfeed table.outfeed table.

Keep in mind, Shopsmith has never marketed Nick's.

You need to lose money on each unit but make it up in volume... :D :D :D

Dusty- If you don't want the hardware inventory hassle, you could just sell the plans, complete with specs of all hardware. Then the buyer can just take the plans to the local hardware or big box store and say "Gimme these."

I don't know how many project plans Shopsmith sells, but it looks like their average charge is $10-15 per plan.

At $10/plan, you'd have your PowerPro with less than 200 customers!

I would say $50 would probably be the max price I would pay for the hardware and plans. I'm thinking of the plans, the connector to attach it to main table, the swivel bracket mount on the outfeed table and the bracket to attach to the main table support tube any thing else needed. All I would need to supply would be the actual material for the out feed table. That is what I would be willing to pay, so as not to have to shop around and find the parts myself. Again I have no idea what they cost you but I would think if you could price them at $50 or under you would sell out. If I were and going to do this I would also offer the plans with a list of where someone could get the parts with expected cost.
Again I have no idea of actual cost and if the cost of the parts is way below the $50 I suggested I would think you would have to lower the cost. Again the $50 is my max.

I often buy kits what include specialize parts and plans for projects that catch my attention. I rarely buy plans that require me to seek out and buy specialized parts. I usually say I going to buy that I will order the parts and then get the plan but I have found I rarely ever get the parts and therefore I never get the plans.

Gary, I do appreciate the thought and I admit that this would be a good way to make a dollar or two but it is not in me to do that. This is the sort of thing that I have always done and I doubt will ever change. If you need something from me, ask and if there is anyway that I can participate and share - I will.

Using the outfeed table as an example, I have placed everything that one needs to duplicate my work right here on this forum. If someone wants one similar to mine, it is available to them.

If there is not enough detail there, ask and it shall be provided as best I can.

The outfeed table is just an example. I would do the same with almost anything we could come up with.

Did you miss my reply to your question on how much I would be willing to pay? I posted nearly the same time you did your last post.

When you look at my figure remember I am really cost conscious person. Some say I throw around quarters as if they were man hole covers.

Seriously I must have missed your parts list for the hardware on your outfeed table. The last I knew you or Nick was messing around with a cobbled up bicycle seat arrangement for the holder that fit into the bottom of the main table support tube.

I thought the last word from you was once you got it perfected you would post the WHOLE story. If you have posted it I totally missed it.
can you direct me to it?
