SSWoodWorker48: I am also guilty of not 'going into the shop' last night. I looked at my manual(circa 1983), and the only woodruff keys were the ones on the feed drive gears and crank shaft. Since mine is a SS mount, the manual only showed the hub mounted to the shaft(I assumed a flatted shaft then).

As a result of your last post I went out and looked at the drive shaft. Surprise, both a flat and a square keyway!:eek:

Did not mean to sound condescending re 'understanding' woodruff keys, but tis best to not assume too much when answering somewhat vague questions.

I do not know why they would even use a woodruff key in this location (end of a shaft). Here is the picture of shaft end showing a standard keyway on a June, 1983 Mark V mount planer.
