I think that is not terribly ridiculous. A new table costs $172 according to the 2008 catalog.

ebay prices, etc

I'm always amazed at what stuff goes for on ebay. Sometimes it's cheap, and sometimes it's higher than new. Go figure. Auctions are always interesting.
I do have one of the above referenced rebuilt speed dials & it works fine. If I were buying a complete speed control on ebay, I'd want some close up pics of the worm/porkchop assembly, as some can be badly worn.

Whenever I buy an item on ebay, I prefer to get used parts from someone who regularly deals in those parts on a regular basis & is familiar with them.
I'm pretty sure there are guys on this site as well who either sell parts, rebuild or both, so that would be a good source.

There are always guys who list stuff with silly "buy it now" prices or starting prices. Some do it in the hope to make a big score. Some do it because they just seem to think thier stuff is that valuable, but haven't a clue.

One of my favorites is when someone will list a ratty looking 10er, no speedchanger or periferals, at about $500-800.

Now, I love my 3-10ers, but if anyone offered me that for any except my dad's original machine, he would own it & I'd go shopping for another because in my area, you can't give them away for $150. But ebay is always interesting and, if you pay attention, there are deals to be had.

The sheaves being screwed together, made it run at a fast speed all the time. Do you have a link for the guy who rebuilds them?
