Motor is super quiet, seems like a lot of play front to back when I wiggle here. Is that normal?

The speed changer seems pretty smooth, but not sure if a guy can tighten those springs tight enough to get to both of the ends of the scale here (1-5) without damage.

The headstock pulley has an odd sized bore, 13/16". They show up on FeeBay and Skip probably has them at http://www.mkctools.com. You also should check the 10er users site on Yahoo as a possible source. Plus there is a ton of documentation via a linked site.

The knurled nut should be hand tight on the speed changer. There should also be a long allen screw that goes into the headstock and holds the headstock end of one of the motor support posts. The speed changer slides over that allen screw and is secured with a nut (some suggest adding a washer here on the allen screw to facilitate movement). Again, the nut on the allen screw should only be finger tight.

Do Not cause those springs to 'bottom out'! Doing so and applying additional pressure will break the ears off!!!:eek:

The pulley/belt adjustment limits the range.
