Don't forget that you can offset or cant the bandsaw blade, which would allow you to cut the two sides of the slots along the full length of the board. With that set-up, you can then drill holes for the end point of the slot and then cut the two sides of the slots on the bandsaw. You could also stack two of the boards together (or possibly more) and cut multiple boards at one time.
