Re: ER or MARK V for dedicated drill press

I have several Mark V but I wonder if I should pick an ER10 for drill press only as I have seen them often.

Thanks in advance for your advice

I don't think there is any overwhelming reason to choose one over the other. I wouldn't necessarily buy a 10ER if I had a MK V to dedicate to a drill press. I have both a 10ER and a MK V 520 dedicated drill press. The Jacobs 3326 chuck is 5/64" to 1/2". It will not hold a 1/16" bit that my wife needs all the time for her scroll saw work. The chuck that comes with the MK V will hold a 1/16" bit. As a result she uses the MK V drill press all the time. Yes, I know I can change the chuck on the 10ER but I don't have to since I have both.

The 10ER has not been restored yet except for polishing the tubes and adding a refurbished speed changer. The MK V has 10ER tubes that have not been polished yet in this picture. I have since polished them.
