Have you considered installing helical inserts? If you install them, I doubt you would wear them out (like the aluminum) just for lubrication. Here is one source:

Nice idea on the helicoils. I'm not sure there's enough mass there though.
I think I'll go with JB Weld (metal epoxy) to epoxy some nuts in place. I'l post pics when I finish this. (It may be a while, projects are stacking up and this will have to wait for the next maintenance cycle)

Just thinking about this, would filling the holes with JBWeld, maybe creating a small mound on the back side, then drilling and tapping work?

If you want the same weak sauce threads that are prone to stripping.
I'll put the JB weld to work holding steel nuts in place. More and harder material for the steel screws.
Here is the procedure I'll use.
On the holes at 3 and 9 and the motor pan drill enough that a 10-32 machine screw can just pass through (don't know the size yet, doing this off the top of my head)
debur and wire brush inside of head stock to ensure surface is clean and has some tooth for the JB weld
Mix up JB weld and apply to head stock.
Attach 10-32 screw to nut and snug down (Not too tight, just enough to bed into the epoxy). Allow to sit over night and cure.
Remove machine screws attach motor pan, and belt cover to test out.
Maybe this weekend (It won't be before Thursday, nights this week are already spoken for) if I get the chance. I'm about due to open it up for cleaning and lubrication anyway.

I had some time this weekend and knocked this out.
I removed the belt cover and motor pan, then cleaned the inside of the head stock where the holes and are nuts will be glued down with JB Weld

I decided to use these screws. I thought it would be handy to be able to use my 5/32 hex key to remove the belt cover and motor pan

Mixed up some JB Weld and adhered the matching nuts to the inside of the belt head stock.

Performed a cleaning and lube while I had everything open. Waited over night for the epoxy to cure, and fastened everything back down.
