Okay - Here's where I'm at on this guys: The set screw in the speed control knob was bad and was not turning the shaft when you attempted to set the speed. I put in a new set screw and for the first time in my life was able to peek in and actually see how the pulley wheels moved when you adjusted them. I have the belt on the upper pulley and will now try and get it onto the lower. I can see now why it was prone to snaging the way it was but it sits a bit higher now. At this point I am optimistic. Will get back with you when I find out if I am on the right track. A simple set screw of all things...

Voila! It is up and running again! Now that I have lubed it as you instructed the squeak is also gone. Thanks for your help guys, without it I wojuld have been mailing it off for a big buck bill! Bart
