I agree that color choice is yours and what makes you feel good is what you should do.
I have some special restorations that are in my mind that I still have to do and as a tribute to my late father, my daughter who also served, and a son presently serving, I am going do some machines in a variety of military camouflage patterns used for battledress through the years.
There are numerous variants, far more than most folks know but I will be doing a Vietnam jungle, a Desert Storm sand, and a Blue Woodland before they all coalesce back into a joint combat uniform that the House Armed Services Committee is mandating.
I still haven’t decided on the patterns (there really are a number of them) but I am committed to doing three Mark V units in camo. The three below are where my thoughts are today.
My thoughts at present are to camo only the base and legs and do a Greenie and Goldie Headstock tribute repaint, with a midrange blue on the Blue Woodland.
It will be a good bit of work, but I am compelled to do something along those lines. I may use the Tigerstripe Lizard pattern on the green. Not sure.

I think it will be a good looking machine. Id like to se them when done. I have another early 80's machine that I am going to do in the next month or so. I am going to do the same white with a brown or tan color. That way I can do my bandsaw jigsaw and jointer in the white almond color and they will match on both but still let me change it up some between the two.

I say dare to be differant and go with what looks good. this is a pick of a machine I grabed for $125 and man did it need some love. The tubes was solid rust and it had paint splashed all over ut and had a apoxy all over the tables and head stock. It was missing the inspection plate and and the casters and drive hubs. I replaced the belts and cleaned up the bearings and torn it down all the way. polished up the knobs and tubes and went with a two tone paint. It kinda gives it that 50's feel but I like it a lot. real smooth machine. It is hunter green and almond its a krylon paint and it holds up nice
Pictures?
Very nice !!!!

But back to the original question. What color to match closely the original colors (plural -2 colors) on a Greenie, I am looking at a 1957 SS in a day or two, it originally belonged to a friends father, when I sold my friend a restored 54, he sold the 57 to a friend of his. I am looking to restore it, my friend has the jointer and belt sander that originally came with this 57 SS are and my friend is offering them to me free if I buy the 57 SS from the other guy. So I want to repaint both colors to original. So what 2 colors, Verdie Hammerite, sold at a Menards and what for the lighter color? Or did I miss it in this thread?
