Welcome Max42
I too am a new SS Greenie owner serial #296300 I believe it's a 1955.
I bought mine from a guy on Craig's list and it was in very bad condition. It was sitting in the back of o truck under a carport and in the weather. When plugged in it just hummed. A lot of rusty parts including the tubes. I disassembled everything and started cleaning it.
For rust removal I use 2 different methods, soaking parts in a 50/50 water vinager solution and also electrolysis. Both work very well. For your tubes, I got a 3" diameter pic pipe and cut to length so that it was just long enough to submerge the tube and can still grab it to pull it out. and capped one end and lowered the tube in and poured my vinager/water in. Let sit for a day and pulled it out and rinsed it with a baking soda/water solution to neutralize the vinager. Then lightly scrubbed it with a small stainless steel wire brush while spraying the baking soda/water on it. Then rinse and dry it. I also use a round plumbing wire brush for inside the tubes.
The electrolysis works very good on parts that have rusted together. It may take paint off so be careful of painted surfaces.
All my aluminum parts I put in a bead blaster and removed paint and it really cleaned the parts up nicely. I'm going to repaint mine. I wish I knew how to post pics so I could show you.
I hope I was able to help you. Any questions on these things please ask. Everyone here is really helpful.

Nick Engler has a video where he uses a potato to remove the rust from the tubes.

Unless you like sewer pipe smell, use evaporust rather than potatoes! :D

An inner pipe(closed ends) will minimize the amount needed.

Over night as well.

Getting ready to replace the power cord and switch and get rid of the orange extension cord mod that was previously done.

I took a few pictures inside and was wondering if the motor looked original. Any other observations are welcome.

I suspect I have to enlarge the cord hole so the 3 wire and strain relief will fit.

Thanks!

Your motor looks very similar to the one that is in my Greenie so I would say yes but let the experts from the site give you the official nod.

The originals were two prong but I installed a three prong on mine when I restored it.

My Goldie(63) came with a 3 wire cord(and a dual voltage motor). Molded strain relief. Any replacing will require enlarging the hole(yes it still has the original but with a 230v plug).

I would replace any two wire cord with a three wire.
