Way to go Ed! I've been wanting to build a few boxes as well and really hoping to do so soon.

Thankfully, We have a lot of cedar trees along with several Blue Spruce and Douglas Firs so we have a lot of habitat for our birds.

Nothing like building something with your own hands which will benefit the wildlife!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also hoping to build a Bat house......... We have several acres of ground and I've built natural berms(leaves, dead branches and tree cut-offs) just inside the edge of the woods for our local Fox,Rabbits and whatever else needs a home...

Time for a little update on the roosting box. Last spring a squirrel thought it might make a home in there.... My guess is it was a young one from the mid winter who liked living at home until the mom kicked it out. This box looks a little like the squirrel house so it gave it the old chew to see if it could get in. Not much luck for it but it sure wrecked the hole..... So since the winter was over I tool it down.
Now a few months later I figured I better get it in working order again before the snow flies. First up was coming up with a plan and I've been thinking about that and found an anti-chew ring. Well the company that makes them thinks they are used for holding up a rod but what do they know. The size is for a 1-1/2" rod which is perfect for smaller birds. Just had to add another front on top the old one a drill a hole then mount the anti-chew ring.
And now it ready for another season, well almost I still have to put it up again but that is another project in my book.
