I have had one of these in my Porter Cable 7815 (3 1/2hp?) mounted in an Incra router table and have used it quite a bit with zero problems regarding vibration etc. Used 3/8 spiral straight cut bit to dado, 5/8" round over, and a few others. Easy peesey in and out of the router bits. Maybe I just got lucky.

Ain't no revamping other than adding a couple of slots to an original nut.

Apparently you missed the point!

The 'problem' being attempted to 'fix' is getting an open end wrench access to the collett tightening nut when mounted under a router table(down in a hole). The slots allow access with a screwdriver.

That is all! No grand scheme at all. KISS ;)

I see no problem with this chuck and I believe this is not the only company making these. In reviews I have read they seem to be working for a lot of people.

I don't own one and I don't think I will because I don't feel I need them. Besides with the number of routers I own I would go bankrupt buying them.

I did have an extender I purchased that allowed a bit to turn in the chuck and it really missed up the shank on the bit. I returned the extender for a refund but did not get my bit replaced...... anyway I was pretty unhappy with that. I sense got a pair of extenders that use collets and they have worked fine.

I don't see balance being an issue, pretty much like having a set screw in a saw arbor or router chuck on a shopsmith. More then likely balanced at the factory and good to go.

I looked to see if I could find the ones I had seen before, like back in the archives of the mid 2000's and low and behold this is what I remembered:

So these have been around for a while and heck I might even put one on my list for my sole DeWalt full size router or one of my PC 690's.

What is the advantage with these? Get a bent wrench from Sommerfield and bit changes are almost painless.
Personally I like collets they grap the shank evenly around the shank.

These also include a collet.

The video stated they are balanced. I remain skeptical, but they DO provide a 'solution'.

If you watched the video and if the guy is correct then they were developed for then commercial cnc machines. It also appears they have been around for longer then I even thought, just not something we as hobbyist had available.

I also found a third company making them so there must still be a market for them.

Eliminator as seen here:

Whiteside

Now some of these might be re-branded or rip-off copies........ and I think there may be more as I did not do a exhaustive search.
