I did not try a easy out or screw extractor,,After I finished the task ,,,, the wife asked me why I didnt try using the new set I bought a couple months ago ...

Of coarse I had to tell her I didnt buy them to use,,,,,,they were just to look good on the work bench !!

I am not sure they would work on the soft nylon screws.

I thought about that. But I suspect that my own set of never-used easy-outs would mostly expand the glides radially, and jam them up even tighter. And besides, I never told my wife about them.

So I think I'll marinate the glide-holes in PB Blaster for a few days, in hopes of dissolving whatever is glueing them to the miter-gauge threads. And then make a special purpose glide-driver, per JPG's guidelines, if still needed. If that doesn't do the trick, then order new ones from the mothership, and drill out the old ones after the new ones arrive. And then I'll always have a proper glide-driver for them

In case anyone was wondering about the differences between a 10 Er, Mark V and a newer Mark V or 7, I attached a couple of pics of each. The hold downs on the older miter gages are removed (one is on my Incra 120 setup). The glides on the 10 ER are like new from c1947! Also, the 10ER came with a 3/4 bar and fits my 1964 Craftsman table saw.

The last picture there shows a screw that appears to tighten down against the glide, am I seeing this correctly?

Wouldn't that destroy the threads on the glide?

That aluminum block with the glide and two screws that hold the block in place is an 'owner enhancement' as are the two thumbscrews.

Not so sure about that. Check the castings... 10Er on the left has no casting for the glide... BUT... I am certainly NOT an expert on 10ERs

Which is WHY the owner enhanced it(the 10er version) with the block etc..

So, how was the 10ER gage originally set up? Did it have glides?
