That part is good. But there is a rather steep drop in CFM (i.e. a rather large SP drop) with the Dust Deputy - it is (according to some emails I exchanged with Oneida) designed to work with flow rates from 50 to 150 CFM. But anything is better than nothing!

But, a bit of encouraging news, Oneida may be working on a upgraded Dust Deputy (or perhaps a slightly smaller version of the 4" version of the Super Dust Deputy) tailored a bit to fit the DC-3300. We can always hope.

If anybody wants a cool DIY project. A Thien Baffle cyclone separator works incredibly well on my 1 HP rikon 60-100 Dust Collector! There are a lot of youtube videos on building one for the 2 hp dust collectors (like the HF ones). It was a fun build, takes about 4-5 hours once you have all of the required equipment and works very, very well!

I honestly doubt that I would get significantly or appreciably more performance from a 'proper' cyclone separator like a large Clearvue or the Super Dust Deputy.

I coupled the Rikon with a Wynn Env MERV 15 filter and feel like I have a world class dust collection system on the cheap for my Shopsmith machines.

I have a festool CT26 dust extractor for my Festool tools though as they require high pressure suction due to the small orifices.

The combo works well for me! Festool Dust extractor for all of my small orifice handheld power tools and the higher flow (~650 cfm) rikon dust collector for the larger stationary shopsmith power tools and equipment.

I had one of the HF in another shop several years ago but it had a plastic impeller and didn't last very long. Maybe they are better now. Anyway Baileigh wanted $200.00 shipping on their unit so for me that was a deal breaker. In the end I decided to buy another Festool CT26. I just like the convenience and smaller footprint and I wont have to move anything around to make it work. Im also working on a way to empty the Festool bags into the large JDS unit so that I can get more miles out of my bags. I may look at adding the Dust Deputy to at least one of the CT's depending on how that goes. You definitely should consider the Festool specific Dust Deputy for the CT26. I love mine and there is a negligible decrease in suction force as demonstrated by the New Brit Workshop Fella. You will save a good deal of money in the long run by going with the Dust Deputy setup for the festool extractor.

I actually had the CT 26 originally hooked up to a dust deputy that I had attached to a 15 gallon fiber drum and it eventually collapsed the fiber drum, due to the intense negative suction pressure. That definitely won't happen to the Festool specific Dust deputy setup. It's built like a tank!

How are you attaching the Festool CT26 to your shopsmith tools?

Are you using the 36mm hose or an even larger hose?

Oh yeah, and look up Thien baffle and hook it up to a cheapie 2HP HF dust collector fitted with a Wynn ENV MERV 15 filter and you'll be in business.

I use the regular 2.5" shopvac hose for the bottom blade guard. For now I am using a 27MM hose on the second unit to my homemade upper blade guard. It works pretty well but the Shark Guard that I have ordered will have a 2.5" dust port. I may reduce it down and use a 36MM hose on it but that decision will have to wait until I receive the unit and play around with it.

I would like to have these Festool blast gates but at $62.00 each they are insanely over priced.

I am so jealous of your operating-theater neat workshop.

Youz Guys sound just like Dusty!

Actually it is an ongoing effort to keep the shop clean.

This a little bit off topic but I am going to post it anyway. Since buying the CT-36-E, I have been toying around with options of trying to use it with various tools. The latest one being how to collect chips and dust in my router table when using my IPM and its fence. The little box I made works about 80-90 percent. Better than nothing.
