That is my Intention,
I am just on the fence of the 3 Options I have.

I just got a Deal on E bay for 2 of the 101-3 tie bars.

One of them I will have to Drill for Clearance and make a 103-3X.
The set screws I will get from McMaster Carr.
The solid insert I can turn it from Drops of CRS I have around here.

So that leaves me with the choice of,

I can go with 0.125 wall thickness tube it will be about $90.oo.
I can go with 0.187 wall thickness tube same as Original tubes That will be about $229.oo

Or cutting the way tubes on this 10ER I just bought without the motor.
This is my Cheapest Option.

IF you decide to cut way tubes, see if thee has the lateer(thinner walled) ones.

They are the Thick Walled ones.
This is why I am Hesitating cutting them.

So pick up some Mark 5 ones.

Since you have a way to make the Solid Inserts you could go with, as JPG suggests, a Mark 5/V Way Tube. The Solid Inserts can be made to accommodate the different ID of the Model 10 and Mark 5/V Way Tubes. Using the thinner walled Way Tube would have a bit less weight hanging off the end of the Model 10 Way Tubes. You could also consider making the Solid Inserts longer than the drawing shows to increase support.

If you have read the topic Longer tubes in the Maintenance and Repair section, you can see getting tubing the correct size can be difficult.

I got a chance to work on the Disassembly of my recent 10ER purchase.

So, I have made a Corporate decision.

One of the Bench Tubes is worst than I thought.

It is not a deal breaker for the Extension Project.

So, a small update.

On my E bay scouring

I now have a Carriage for both Extensions.
I also got what I thought was a deal on Tie Bars.

I have the set screws in the cart at Mcmaster Carr.

I plan to build 2 different types. (I modified the Previous Pictures posted)

For building the Bench type Lathe Extension (pictured below) there was a parts list included when I originally saw the pictures.

Extension Bench includes:

1-10e/er base w/ arm
1-carriage
2-26" tubes
1-Bench (includes metal bench ends w/brackets & wood top)
2-tube couplers

Not included in that list is an additional Lathe Tool Rest, Arm, Post and Collar.

I have a suggestion to consider. First the "tube couplers" appear to be a plastic sleeve. That is fine for keeping the Way Tube sections aligned but doesn't appear to have a positive connection. If I were to make one, I think I would extend the wood of the Lathe Extension Bench top to fill the gap between it and the full Bench. There could be something on those now touching bench tops to "latch" them together. Without extending the bench top so they touch, adding a latch of some kind could allow the extension bench to pull into the main bench and lift the far end off the floor. That would put the extension out of alignment. Remember that the Metal Bench Ends, when properly installed, angle slightly outward, not at a 90-degree angle, from the wood of the Bench Top.

For this (Bench Lathe Extension project)

I have:
Qty 1: Base with Arm from the last purchased 10ER with no Motor.
Qty 1: Carriage from last 10ER purchased with no motor.
Qty 1: Tube from last 10ER purchased with no motor that can be cut in half.

The Bench is (To be Fabricated with Russ's Idea of of a Latch to join the main bench with Extension bench.)

Tube couplers (Tie-Bars) purchased from E bay.
