if I understood correctly when they were soliciting participation at last month's club meeting, one of the pen kit manufacturers donates the kits that are used for the turn for the troops event. you can buy kits in advance to turn at home and they will refund your purchase price when you bring in the pens for the drive. if you do the turning in the classroom on the day of the event, Heather or one of the club members will help you learn how to do it.

the formal pen turning classes do have a fee to cover the cost of the instructor's time and the pen kit that you turn into a pen that is yours at the end of the class.

Yeah I saw they would refund my money if turned at home. But I didn't have the tools. I just wish I would of known the part about them showing me how to do it. I can't come up with the fee for the formal classes right now, but I could of bought some blanks.
