To deal with this, I work to maintain the uphill pieces as small as possible. When they do get kicked back, and they will, it is inconsequential.
On larger pieces, I use the other Shopsmith (this one being set for bevels) to cut the material down so that the cuti=off is small (manageable).
There are some limitations to using the tilted table. Just make certain you think through the process and don't do it if it does not seem safe. If you are in doubt - it is not safe.
