I'm a little late to the party
I searched some of my teardown archives and came up with these.

Not a big deal to take apart, just double nut the trunnion threaded end, hold the inner nut with a wrench, use the SS allen on the knob and it comes apart easily enough.

With the spring fully engaged in the knob. The only problem I can see with this setup, is getting as much torque with the SS allen wrench on the knob as what you would be getting with an ordinary hex bolt and open or closed end wrench. A lot more torque is achieved with that setup.
With the spring tension on the washer when the trunnion knob is slightly loosened for adjustment, it may make adjusting the table easier by not allowing the table to just fall to the 45 degree.
