I thought it was a Windows 8 experience.
What does that mean?
AIUI Chrome is a browser created by Google.
Typically Google is a search function and is definable to the browser as the default searcher.
This forum is an additional piece of software that interfaces with the browser.
Now I do not know why W8 would affect this relationship except by way of W8 resources used by the forum and the browser.
I suspect MS has changed some Java interpretation that makes chrome behave differently with W7 and the forum software.
JAVA is the communication language used on the internet to interface between all these software programs. A crude description I am sure but essentially accurate(IIUC).
Not having any experience with W8, I do not know what to expect there.

So now that you can post pictures, can you disclose to the forum just what you did to resolve the issue?
Do you now have a "paper clip"? If you do, where did you find it?

Dusty, an early riser being in AZ, best time of the day besides 5pm cocktail/Miller Time!!! No clip, must be that Google/Chrome thing, on my screen when I go to "Reply" at the very bottom of it is a red bar that sez Additional options, I just thought it was the bottom of the page, Da, then some one here copied that portion and explained about the "attach files" portion of it, and "my" light came on, and scrolled down and found that. Problem solved and enlightenment is wonderful!!

Here's what it means to me:D My mind is
not at all confused with knowledge of operating systems from Window 3.1 through Windows 8. I have worked with each with no huge issues and never have tried to understand HOW they work. Just tried to learn how to operate with them.
Windows 8 comes with Google Chrome installed. Since I already knew how to operate with plain old Google, I instructed Chrome to find me plain old Google. Now when I click on the Chrome icon, I get an old Google page, complete with all of the tricky little pictures that sometimes appear. You know - celebrating birthdays of folks over 100 years old and the like.
To post photos that are stored in my windows 8 "
Pictures Library" (no more "My Pictures") I now use the scroll down system explained above.
No, Dusty - there is no paper clip in Windows 8.

There is no paper clip on the forum running with Chrome under W8.
We know the paperclip appears under W7 with other browsers.
We know the paper clip is missing with Chrome under W7 with other browsers.
I have not tried Chrome under W8 with other browsers.
Not totally conclusive, but Chrome has a high probability of being 'the problem'.
I am curious if the paper clip appears under W8 with Firefox. If not, Chrome is the only thing constant with the non appearance of the paper clip.
The one
constant through all this is the forum software.

I post with W7 and XP while using Firefox and I have the paper clip.
I expect this to become a configuration issue rather than software capability.

Well with all that, I have been taken down the tunnel and enlighten, I usually can figure things out on the computer, but when there is not something there, I cant figure it out do to its absence. Thanks guys for all here. Now I can keep the KT educator happy with pics!!! Even thought at times he sees things inaccurately, must be the smoke in the mountains.

In summary, absence of the paperclip icon is not the end of the world. We can still include pictures using a button down below. Simple. If you want a paperclip icon in your WYSIWYG editor then try a different browser.
Weird issues like this aren't always what they seem. It could be that Chrome is representing the page properly and Firefox isn't, or maybe the vBulletin (forum software) code needs a tweak or update. This problem will likely resolve through future updates to the forum and/or browsers.
FWIW this particular computer runs Windows Vista Home Edition. That's ancient by technology standards; hence why it spends time in the shop. On this computer...
#1) The paperclip icon is absent when posting messages to this forum using the latest Chrome and Safari versions.
#2) The paperclip icon is present when posting messages to this forum with Firefox 3.6.8.

No, it is not the end of the world.(be patient, Microsoft will think of that all too soon enough).
The point is, why does something that seems to work just about everywhere else, not work with chrome(or whatever is causing that).
Somebody is not using standard procedure. I suspect Google!
Point two, why should one have to use an alternate cumbersome procedure to achieve a work around because of inadvertent(assumption) incompatibility. I am sure it is correctable.
So how does one make Google aware chrome has an 'issue'?
