There's often a lot of floccinaucinihilipilification when it comes to Harbor Freight products. But I've always heard the dust collector is a good deal.

I fail to understand how this latest discussion has to do with HF dust collector.
Well we are talking air quality and health, in or out of the shop, and the "real" cost to obtain it!!! Air out needs air in.
In my shop can be cool, turn on the lights, and a bit later in is warm in there, I had some 300W MH, lights, it was a heat lamp!! Wattage is heat, no matter in what form it is being used as!!!! Just a matter of ineffectiveness of its use.
40 watt bulb, no matter what form, 40 watts is 40 WATTS, is 136.5 BTUs a
hour!!!
Formula is btu/hr x watts x 3.4137, no mater what is using the wattage!! Heat is a by product of using electricity!!

Now the discussion has changed from HF dust collectors to air quality "out of the shop", from generating electric power, to heat generated by light bulbs, to heat in the form of BTUs generated by wattage.
What's next? amount of heat coming through windows at a summertime angle related to latitude and shining on the dust collector?
Really!!!! Let's take discussions like this to the Community Forum.

Charlese, what kinda call sign is that? They have a thread going on the Community Forum on explaining what we choose and why. Please enplain there so this thread does not take another turn.

Maybe a solar panel!!!
Charlese, after reading this all, did you learn something!!! Not just about DC persay, but air quality, the price of a KWH in the Midwest compared to your .20+ in CA? Good idea about the sunlight, we can get a solar panel to run the DC!! My Bro in Reid,CA 20 miles out of Stockton SE I think of it, or SW. pays his ass off for electricity, put solar on his roof, do you contribute or complain? If you ant part of the solution, you ARE part of the problem!! I am going to bet you voted for "Hope and Change"!!! How is your utility bill and carbon foot print doing!!! Along with your 10% sales tax!! And more insolvent cities in one state then any others!!?? The Professionals have been leaving that state for 10 years to go SE and NE, like rats leaving a sinking ship!! And you think this thread went astray??????? I learned more her in 2 nights then in a week on the net!!! I learned, 2 of the most foremost expects on SS were National Spelling Bee Champs. 1 has 3 youngens and does not have all the discretionary income to spent on his hobby, BO is killing the fossil fuel industry and jobs and income for the coal mining employees, at .10 per KWH. ECT. What did you contribute to thread?
Yes I agree, sometimes it seems it turns into a "Chat Room", but it is a tight group here, with a narrow interest, of, I would say, the majority, conservative, men, and over 50 at least, if not 60, NOT that any woman or are here hiding behind a tag name are not welcomed!! Ladys, I hope I said that right, Luv ya Here!! I reread it 5 times and I think I said it right, if not PM me dont go to the "addim"!! Cant figure out why when I look at you is on line here in alphabetical order "Addim" is not first, he follows me. I think it should, cine of course I am more important!!LOL!!!!!

FWIW apologies are not needed when one engages brain to verify things prior to putting mouth in gear.
Not that
I always do!
BTW there
are old fogeys in CA. Tis those young 'professionals' that are deserting it(so you said IIUC).
Now for the reason for the grumpy old fogey's(no one in particular) objections - All this rubbish(aka non-relevant) foolishness, makes it more difficult to research/find stuff later using the search function.
As for tangents this old fogey is likely a bad example. Centripetal force is insufficient to keep me on the circle. I fly off far too easily.
That said, when loosely connected, these tangents often yield educational elements. Sometimes that new information is even relevant to the thread subject.
