I would suggest that you repeat that process. Oil it again (I don't believe you can apply oil too many times) but this time run the speed control up and down several times.
I typically oil the machines at least once a month and any other time that I am inside the headstock for any reason. When I oil, I always run the speed control from high to low and back again at least twice.
Also, anytime I have the headstock open, I clean out the saw dust. Periodically, I drop the motor pan so that I can access the motor to blow all the sawdust out of it.
