Still curious if it attacks the steel/iron.

Good info re saving paint. Think one of his parts had peeling paint though(either that or it was crinkled/bent).

I'm also curious about oxalic acid -- which you can pick up anywhere under the name "Barkeeper's Friend" -- works great on SS and aluminum pots/pans, SS bar tops, etc.

I just picked up a Mark V from C-list and the bench tubes have a light petina that I'd like to get off.
