My father in law converted all his 6 volt tractors to 12 volt almost as soon as he acquired them.
I don't know the details of what all he did, but it was a fairly easy job and knowing how thrifty he was it had to be a fairly low cost process.
Of course when my father in law passed away trying to get his 24 volt diesel tractor running drove me and my brother in law crazy. It was wired in a very interesting way since some accessories are 12 volt and some were 24. And for some reason before my FIL died he had removed a large part of the wiring. Why neither my Brother in law or me know but it was fun trying to figure out what terminal went where.
