Seriously if those tubes pull out when moving it the machine could be damaged and require some additional repairs and added cost for them. If you are not sure how to proceed just ask we have an abundance of helpful people here.

I totally agree. The tubes have not been inserted into the castings as far as they should be. There should be a gap but a very small gap between the Tie Bar and the Headrest. When the tubes are properly inserted into the castings, there is barely clearance between the ends of the tubes and the extension table legs.
There is a mechanical stop on one end of the tubes but not so on the end where I believe you have an issue. If you lay down on the floor and look up into the castings I think you will see the problem immediately.

I hope I am wrong, but am increasingly concerned the 'bench' tubes may in fact be 'way' tubes (i.e. 3/4" short).

The two Way tubes should each be 3/4" shorter than the Bench Tubes (no matter overall length they are). If the shorter tubes (Way Tubes) were installed in the castings as Bench Tubes, the spacing would not be as described in this thread. Pictures show what I consider to excess space between the Headrest and the Tie Bar.

That excess was < 0 initially. If the bench tubes are not into the casting(up on the raised rib) there will be excessive clearance. I believe in the pix into which Ed added the red lines showing the cant of the legs etc. that is caused by the bench tube NOT bearing on that ridge(i.e. not inserted far enough). If too short(way tube instead of bench tube) the clearance would be <0 even with the bench tube NOT in far enough. THAT is where he started(canted table/leg AND insufficient clearance to allow tie bar to rest on the casting).

I believe the quick way to see if there is a problem with the tube lengths would be to measure between the bolt holes where the accessory shelf goes. With the tubes fully seated correctly this measurement on a full sized SS is 54 inches. If the measurement is less, the bench tubes are not long enough indicating way tubes were installed as bench tubes.

After rereading my posts to this thread, I have one thing to add. When I go to reassemble a unit that has had the tubes (Way and Bench) removed, I insert the extension table(s) all the way in. Then when I insert the Tubes, I cannot get them in too far. Keep in mind that the longer pair of tubes go on the bottom and the shorter tubes go in the top.

You nailed it. I got them all taken apart and the way tubes were 52 3/4". Gonna clean them up and reinstall them as bench tubes. Thanks for all the tips!

Bench tubes polished and installed. Exactly 54" between those bolt holes. Things are looking up!
