To be honest, I don't care how the bearings "feel" in a 60/70 year old machine. I am going to replace them. Fortunately the original quality bearings are still available.

To be honest, I don't care how the bearings "feel" in a 60/70 year old machine. I am going to replace them. Fortunately the original quality bearings are still available.

One thing that I have learned about myself is that if it ain't broke don't fix it. I sometimes make things worse when I don't leave well enough alone. For example, looking for less runout and ending up with more. Although I may very well order the bearings from A & W on Tuesday (Monday is Labor Day), I probably won't put them in until I need to.

You are very convincing. I just may have to come down there with the bearings, quill and drive sleeve, and you can show me how it's done. I'll bring the beer.
