Bill, you’re correct about rosewood not growing in Ohio.

It's the darkest apple wood I've seen. Ite sure pretty stuff, though.

I had a hard time believing it when my neighbor told me that it was an apple tree. So I went home and looked it up on wood-database.com. Sure enough, here's what they say about the color:
I've seen handles on vintage handsaws that were a similar color, but I assumed that it was from stain and/or patina. Now I wish I had grabbed more than just the two logs.

The thread says "unrelated to woodworking"..well I can say this is unrelated, but I still used the Shopsmith as a base for assembly operations ! It worked well as a solder and grounded assembly station.

Its a home designed PAR38 narrow beam LED lamp.
After assembly-starting to look product worthy.
and yes- it actually does work as intended

p.s - yes thats a kitchen toaster oven on my desk. how else would one produce SAC305 solder reflow profiles on a shoestring budget ? =)

The bulb looks very cool, but you can’t just leave us hanging! Why and how did you roll your own?

Oh - my day job is in light/lighting .

This device is unique and is a first attempt at doing something thats not currently being done in the LED lighting market.

Just something I'm working on in my spare time.
