I have one that is a 5/8", I think it's the molder arbor, I can use it with the dado set?

I don't know why but I was thinking that it was different from one I would use for a saw blade or dado set. Am I correct in assuming that I was wrong? That would be good since I won't have to buy a new arbor (the free dado set that way stays free):D

Also, what is the 3/4" spacer used for? Is it to "push" the blade in or out on the arbor for proper alignment within the saw guard? The two washers I understand one on each side of the "blade"

Since the stack dado width will vary, the spacerS are used to position the blade out towards the 'nut'. Trunion clearance is the 'issue'.(and blade guard)

This is a typical dado set. Note what is included. In addition to this, as stated by others, you also need a dado arbor.

To be used safely, you also need a table insert that has a cutout wide enough for the dado blades.

I hope this answers all of your questions.
