And besides, there is good precedent for installing round fittings on beautiful wooden boats.

Is that your runabout? Absolutely breathtaking!
I wish!!! No, I have personally have to suffer with just a 2001 Toyota Epic S22.

You might need a larger work space.......
If I recall they said it was 35 feet long??
Ed
LOL, Ed! My next boat is likely either a one seater canoe or kayak. But it will be a while. Wife is pretty sick of the construction site that I turned the sunroom into. A sailboat is also in the list but that's probably going to wait until I retire/move.
Gale's Law: The bigger the woodworking project, the less the mistakes show in any photo taken far enough away to show the entire project!
Incredibly, the construction phase is OVER. I am not making the seat spacers yet; will wait until I've had a chance to paddle it and see what the correct seat height is before making them.
Now it is varnish time! I removed the seats and yoke to give the gunwales and deck their first coat of varnish.

I also re-sanded the interior to get rid of some varnish drips. Will re-varnish that after the gunwales and deck are done.
Also a photo of the controversial bow line hole. Looks like a fish eye to me, but I kinda like it.
