Re: New Mark V Owner
So I have a Mark 5 with a 510 upgrade. I ordered a new Saw Arbor and blade and ordered one for a Model 500 which mine originally was. I wasn't aware that the table upgrade would change the arbor required. Is that in fact the case? If so, it looks like I may be waiting another few weeks before I can use this thing as I ship it back and wait on a new one.
Re: New Mark V Owner
Yes that is the case. The 510 table is larger than the 500 so the arbor needs to be longer. So all of the different type of arbors need to be for the 510.Jimmy18 wrote:So I have a Mark 5 with a 510 upgrade. Order what you think you need/want and while doing so request that Shopsmith allow you to retain the arbor that you have until the new one arrives. You just might be pleasantly surprised how accommodating they are.jsburger wrote:Yes that is the case. The 510 table is larger than the 500 so the arbor needs to be longer. Re: New Mark V Owner
If the machine was upgraded to a 510 from a 500 using the shopsmith upgrade "kit" then it has a new arbor of the correct length, so you can check the box of supplies that you have and see if you already have one. The upgrade also should have included a longer arbor for the sanding disk, so check that as well.
Having extra arbors is nice so even if you already have one I'd be looking to get a second one minimum. It nice to swap arbors with blades already mounted rather then changing just the blades...... but of course it costs more since the arbors are not cheap.

Re: New Mark V Owner
Here are some of the accessories.
The two arbors on the saw blades are for the 500. I threw them on and they are short. The other two blades have an arbor on there but it doesn't have the flat nut like the regular 500 arbors on the standard blades. I threw these on the quill and they actually reach too far. I have to adjust the headstock back from the table a bit. Not sure what the blade next to the dado is for. Large sanding disc doesn't have an arbor attached though I assume one of the others fits.

Don't know what some of these pieces are.
This should be the proper arbor.
Re: New Mark V Owner
In image #1385 the object just to the left of the red blister pack appears to be the arbor to convert the steel sanding disc from a 500 model to a 510/520 model. It is not for the aluminum sanding which is shown in another picture. You sure do have a bunch of good stuff.

Re: New Mark V Owner
The '500'/Mark 5 arbors will all work with a 510.. by simply advancing the quill.
The aluminum disk however will likely only work off the side of the table as it did with a m5/500.
Image 1386 IS a 510... arbor.
That is a 'plywood' blade next to the dado.
