Just an update for my TRYING times of doing bottle stoppers with the laminated plywood. I found the best way for me was to use threaded inserets into the plywood. Here's my attempts.

I do wonder if the batch of material you got was a bit "off". Anyway they look great and I see no issues of have to used threaded inserts, if it works it works.

I hope you get a chance to turn a few in non-plywood to see how that works for you. I've only done the one in the plywood so far, need to get at ordering more metal bits from Ruth and turn the rest of them and a couple of other blanks I have just sitting there.
