This is one of the reasons I don't do a lot of scroll saw work.:D I never could/did color in the lines.

Yea a good mentor or hands on training cannot be beat. You can only learn so much from on-line videos and reading books. Anyway, if nothing else, it gives me more reasons to make sawdust...As if I ever needed another reason. :)

Ok, with JPG's pictorial help and some fiddling, I mounted a blade and fired her up. I did have to rob the key out of my planer, one more thing to order or "backorder". I'm not sure how to adjust everything quite yet, but when I ramp up the speed, the blade seems to track all over (can see shadows going a little crazy).

I alson need a table insert. They are not orderable if I remember correctly and my cast version bandsaw is too small.

Shined up the table and waxed her up :)

Might be best if I wait for the owners manual so I don't screw anything up.

Shopping list-
Red Key (SS orderable)
Discontinued Insert
Discontinued part #86 (must manufacture but I did get the screw from SS)
Discontinued front cast trunion

If anyone who reads this post has any of the discontinued parts above and wants to off them, please contact me.

The insert for the bandsaw with the aluminum table should fit, item 516173. The blade cutout is a little different but the insert diameter and clip location is the same.

Thankyou sir, I'll put it on the list. I think SS must love a guy like me, find old stuff-need a part-need another part-oh one more part...and the shipping dept must think I'm an idiot!

The older bandsaw #2 has no table insert...do they make those??

Shopsmith used to stock these (and may still). There are alternatives such as the one here for the Delta saw or here.

I have a older bandsaw insert on order since last April... no idea if I will ever see it but if you order it that may kick start a batch for all of us that want one. If I recall it is under $14.

So you paid for it (special order?) last April, and you still don't pocess the part?
Thats not right, after a reasonable time you should be refunded and then notified when it will be available. Or better yet, Someone should be able to give you an accurate "heads-up". Wow

I agree that this is an excessive time to wait without receiving some sort of notification about the order BUT there is nothing to refund. Shopsmith does not charge for back ordered items until they ship.
