I am taking apart and refurbishing an older Mark V that I have acquired (my first) and would like some guidance on how to disassemble the pivoting "Base" and "Base Arm". This assembly is held together by and pivots around the "Base Arm Pin" which appears to be held in place by a small pin inserted through a hole on the left side of the Base and into the Base Arm Pin. I have not been able to remove this small pin which looks like a small hollow tube just a bit smaller in diameter than the hole it is in. Is there a specific tool or technique I should be using? I tried a couple of needle nose pliers but could not get a good grip on the pin to pull it out. I am assuming that once I remove the small pin that I can remove the Base Arm Pin and then separate the Base and Base Arm. Please let me know if that is incorrect.

Once I have this out are there any suggestions on putting it back together?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

You need a pin punch. The harbor freight ones are total crap and you will hate yourself for buying them if they get stuck and the handle comes off...grr. I don't remember the size offhand...its larger than 1/8th as I recall.

Puutting it back in is pretty straight forward. Rotate till the holes align, then tap the pin in place. Then you can use a larger pin punch tool to seat it.

I may be a newbe but I know this one 'cause I learned the hard way.
Drive the roll pin all the way through.

I thought there was no place for it to go WRONG
I thought it must go inside the bar until it was removed WRONG
I am now able to provide a cut away (broke) picture.

the roll pin is longer than the rod it goes through not shorter as I first thought.

I recently took mine apart for painting. Other than that, I see no reason to take apart that assembly. Mine was together since 1955.
