Dusty's ZCI Insert Jig

[ATTACH]17329[/ATTACH]I had the pleasure of paying Dusty a visit on Saturday. I had a few questions about some of the various jigs he has built for the Shopsmith and he was kind enough to share some of his knowlege.
The Z.C.I. inserts came up and Dusty showed me how that set up (after showing me his jigs for setting the table alignment) Then he gave me a ZCI insert with the blade slot cut-out and asked me to try it on my Power-pro. I got home and after a couple of chores I was able to get in the shop. (I used to think of it as a shop until I saw Dusty's shop. Now I have to agree with Erica, it is a Chaos Containment Center:eek: . But with the information I received from Dusty, I can start building some storage)
Dusty's jig worked out preety dang good! As per the photo, my feeler gauge only goes to .006 and it would not fit on the open side. The headstock side barely touched the carbide tooth edge on the combo and crosscut blades. A couple spins of the blade and it fits like a glove.
Now to get some of the specs on paper and start making some sawdust. Thanks for all of your help Dusty.

You are most welcome, 2bits. The pleasure was all mine. The fact that the ZCI fit so well on your new PowerPro made the entire morning worth it to me. Your table was aligned at the factory and the trunnions have not been altered by an owner. When the ZCI fit as shown in your attached photo, it convinced me that I now have my table realigned as it should be.

The blade is on the centerline of the insert (as it should be). It has not been like that (until recently) since I drilled out the holes on my trunnions.

One of these days, we'll have to tear your PowerPro apart so that we can check the hole size on your trunnions.

Seeing that insert fit as it does is proof positive that all three of my ZCI related jigs are sized properly. Thanks for being part of my experiment.

2bits - use the quill to tweak the position of the blade in the insert kerf. I tweaked the jig so I believe the next insert I give you will fit perfectly.
