The Shop Journal release

Hi folks,
I'm posting this in regards to the release of my Series "The Shopsmith Journal's'. I just became aware that not all of you have e-mail address's registered with Shopsmith and therefore you may not have gotten the promo trailer sent out. This is the first of probably 12-13 in the Series which will cover almost everything I have done in woodworking over the last 49 years of my career. We have spared no cost in purchasing two High Def cameras to make sure you get the highest quality DVDs on the market. I have hired one of the best Videographer's in Northern Calif to do my filming. Currently, The Maintenance and Alignment DVD is the only one for sale but filming the second, "Kitchen Cabinetry" is scheduled for the last week in January. I am still teaching for the Traveling Academy so I have to juggle my schedule when I'm home. I think you will be very happy with the quality of the filming and the information. Everything in all of the Series will be done with strictly Shopsmith equipment so you will be able to understand the full potential of your machine and the confidence to move forward on anything you are inclined to build. How about an early bird offer- such as buy first 4 upfront and save$???? Do you have your other episodes blocked out?

I am trying to do a global scope Sharpening/Honing video series and I understand just how hard it is. I own a pro-level Midi8 cassette camera and a program to take those tapes to digital. Finding a competent videographer is tough- at least here in the great Hawkeye State. I respect your effort.mt

I just reviewed Rick Davis' new subject journal DVD and found it very helpful. I hope Rick will be doing more of these journals on various woodworking subjects. One suggestion on the subject maintenance and alignment, there needs to be better use of close-ups to what Rick is addressing. Several times during the video Rick would address an area but there was no close-up to help emphasis the points he was making or it was delayed so that the points and discussion were not well timed. Aside from this suggested improvement, I was very pleased and look forward to the next journal subject release.

Is there a listing of future subjects to be released available?

thanks for the kudos and constructive criticism. It is always helpful to hear how the finished product is viewed, my future projects will reflect all input. As to the future of the Series, the subjects that I have pretty much locked into are as follows but not necessarily in this order, with the exception of the Kitchen Cabinetry which will be filmed in late Jan.
Kitchen Cabinetry
Furniture
Architectural Elements ie: molding, trim, wainscoting etc
Router table
Bowl and Box turning
Bandsaw Boxes?
Entry ways ie: doors, sidelites and transoms
This is just a small sampleing, but I will do one on any subject there seems to be enough interest in. If you personally have an interest, let me know. After the Kitchen one, I will be asking all of you for the order you would like to seen the rest done in.

Hi Rick,

After watching the DVD a couple of times, I have to say that I liked it. It will come in handy to watch when I perform those procedures. I do have to agree with barrj about the close ups though. The first one of anything always leaves room for improvement. Good job!

I have just ordered the Shopsmith Journals (it is trucking my way as I type)and I am looking forward to the release of the kitchen cabinet video as I have that job to tackle.
The release of these videos couldn't be timed any better for me.

Combine that with the series of nine episodes that the New Yankee Workshop is presently airing on PBS, and you will have a great DVD reference library to turn to when making kitchen improvements.
