Just returned from a lovely vacation on Kauai. While craft shopping I saw this beautifully done pen turned with mixed materials. With permission, I photographed it to share. While there I purchased a lump of Koa, which I hope to make into some pens. Anyway, some people have some really fine skills. I believe it was priced at $60.

Hawaii has a wood called Kiawe When we go there we use it to smoke the fish we catch it grows in pretty twisted bush like trees
I guess there trees. Any how it's a beautiful wood but a long straight piece my not exist I seen many small carved things made
from it and it's very beautiful it should be no problem gettin' pen sized pieces though, if you return look for some.
The stuff grows like weeds so it shouldn't be to expensive.

I didn't know what a Shopsmith was...
Three days later I owned one...
One week later I was rebuilding one...
Four months later I owned two....
Ok Ok, I'm up to four now...
