Help aligning the new Aluminum band saw deck

Post by whitefox01 »

I have a Mark 5 of about 1986 vintage with the cast iron saw table. I recently purchased the Upgrade table, and I am having some bit of difficulty aligning the blade to the table. Also with the table bolted tight to the tronions, and the table locked down to the base there is some bit of movement of the deck from front to back, that is that the trailing edge of the deck is not stable, with the table locked down securely. Its like the locking function only effects the trunion on the leading edge of the table. I did not notice this as being a problem prior to the removal of the cast iron table, though it would seem that it was having the same irregularity. I really have not used the band saw enough to know if it was aligned to begin with. From what I have read on the forum already this looks like a great place to get information about the Shop Smith.:)
