Hello,
I purchased a used jointer off of eBay, and the fellow who shipped it totally disassembled it. I'm having some problems getting it back together correctly, mainly with the adjustment knob and the associated nuts and washers that go onto the stud. I tried to follow the diagram in the manual, but for some reason I'm not getting it right. I'm wondering if someone would be so kind as to post or email a picture of this area of their jointer. I would greatly appreciate it.

If you are talking about the depth of cut arrangement. The adjustment knob goes on the end of the stud angled toward the front of the infeed table without any washers. The groove on the knob fits into the yoke on the base (outfeed table). You should have 5 washers along with a nut. Two of the washer are curved and act like a spring. These two washers are sandwiched between the three remaining flat washers (flat-curved-flat-curved-flat). This sandwich goes onto the infeed table's stud followed by the nut. Tighten sufficiently to prevent wobble but not so tight that the table is difficult to adjust.

The washer sandwich goes on the stud between the nut and the bottom of the base (slot).

OK, that's how I have it, but I also put a flat washer between the nut and the base because it seems the nut wanted to slip into the groove without it. It just won't cut properly; it takes a huge chunk off the front of the wood then doesn't cut at all after that. Must be an adjustment thing.

No, the entire washer stack sandwich goes between the nut and the slot. It appears as though you only have one washer where there should be 5.

It just won't cut properly]As I noted in this post, put the five washer sandwich stack where you have placed the one washer. That is between the groove (as you describe it) and the nut.

Perhaps the attached file will show you how the washers should stack up on the stud. And how the fence quadrant works. It is an older manual but not too much has changed.
