Bandsaw Tires walking off the wheels

A few years ago I upgraded the bandsaw tires to the urethane tires. I have been having issues on and off ever since. Initially the tires seem to work fine but after a while (6 months to year) the tires start slipping on the wheels and walk themselves right off under the blade. Shopsmith replaced the first pair because when I measured them after having the problem they were too large. The assumption was that the tires I was sent were the wrong size.
I am now on my third pair of tires and have the same problem again. It appears that the urethane tires are stretching out over time and no longer hold onto the wheels. When new I have to remove the wheels and put in some effort to get the tires on the wheels. Now I can slip them back on the wheels without removal from the machine with little effort.
Am I the only one having a problem with the tires?
Any thoughts? Glue them to the wheels?
Thanks.
Bob
