Shopsmith sandpaper

Post by cincinnati »

I was in my local Lowe's and noticed the sandpaper section had been reset. No Shopsmith sandpaper to be found. Wonder if it's gone for good or just not reset yet?

Anyone notice at their local store?

Yes, I was there this morning and all I found in the sandpaper rack was 3M. Every size and shape imaginable but all 3M.

Did you order your double tilt upgrade from Lowe's and if you did was it during a Shopsmith demo.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that there were two separate locations for sandpaper at my local Lowe's - the paint section and the tools section. In the painting section there was no SS paper but there was some in the tools section.

Shopsmith sandpaper is re-branded Gator sandpaper. It's something Shopsmith is trying at some Lowe's around the country. I don't know how long it will or will not last. I guess it depends on how successful it is.

... so says the man who did the Shopsmith Demo at the Lowe's in Richmond a couple of months ago.

Interesting. I have some of the Gator products and have no complaints with them. Other than I wish I could get a finer grained 1 x 24" belt for my strip sander. (Locally I mean, there easily ordered online.)

Although you may be correct I must say the gator and Shopsmith brands I have in my shop vary greatly. The Shopsmith paper I have is of far greater quality than the gator, which is seldom used due to it's poor quality. Jim
